Development department Christmas bash: One of the benefits of working here is that on the first Friday of every month we are allowed to knock off an hour and a half early and relocate to a local drinking establishment where the drinks will be on the company. To date this has actually occurred successfully once since the policy was introduced. This month it was cancelled in order to arrange a more festive Christmas get togther for us hard working programmers. The following week an e-mail informed us all that it was being cancelled again because those responsible for organising it were still trying to find something suitable. Yesterday we were informed that, since those responsible for organising it had "not been able to secure anywhere for a bit of a do on Friday", we would be finishing work early today and ... erm... relocating to a local drinking establishment where the drinks will be on the company.

Next year remind me not to cancel other plans because of a departmental Christmas do, because the chances are that the departmental Christmas do will not actually take place. Hopefully the company wide Christmas do next Thursday will more than make up for the other fiasco!

Alarm clocks are devil-spawn, or at least they are after a night out. It was the first of the work Christmas events, and probably the smallest given that it was only the Networks team. A good time was had by all at TigerTiger. It was certainly warm and inviting given the torential downpour we had to endure to get there. J + B were, as expected, an hour late so the rest of us had plenty of time for a few drinks, and to explore the place properly before it filled up later. It certainly is a biggish venue - space for 1995 people according the marketing blurb, and given that amount of space it never felt full whilst I was there (although it was only a Tuesday evening).

D certainly enjoyed himself on the dance floor, but didn't manage to pull - that too was as expected. *grin*

I certainly wouldn't say it was cheap, especially since for the meal we were eating from the Christmas menu, but that didn't really matter. It's not like I do it every night! (Next night out is Friday...)
